Bread baked overnight, on the shelf by opening
Every loaf on this page is baked in the early hours at our Central Bakehouse in Kot Lakhpat and travels to the branches before the shutters go up. That is why our breads are best eaten within a few days rather than weeks: they are made for today's breakfast table, not a long shelf life.
Milky bread is the soft, slightly sweet everyday loaf for toast, sandwiches and school lunches. Brown bread adds whole-wheat atta for more fibre and a nuttier flavour. Our sourdough loaf is made with a natural starter, flour, water and salt — no added yeast, milk or egg — and has a chewy crust and gentle tang that suits olive oil, eggs or a bowl of daal. Burger buns come in sixes with a sesame top, and dinner rolls in twelves for dawats and family dinners. The Breakfast Box bundles breads with breakfast bakes for an easy weekend.
How long does it keep? Soft breads are best within two days; sourdough within three to four. Lahore's heat dries bread quickly, and monsoon humidity invites mould, so keep loaves in their bag at room temperature, out of the sun, and never in the fridge. Slice and freeze anything you will not finish — it toasts straight from frozen. Our bread storage guide covers reviving a tired sourdough and storing bread through the seasons.
Stock is shown live for the branch you choose, and popular loaves can sell out by evening. Reserve yours online for a morning pickup slot, or add bread to a delivery alongside milk and eggs from our dairy and grocery shelf. Allergen details for each loaf are on the allergens page.
Questions
About breads
What breads does Golden Crust bake?
We bake milky bread, brown bread, sourdough loaves, burger buns and dinner rolls every morning at the Central Bakehouse. The Breakfast Box combines bread with breakfast bakes. Stock is shown live per branch.
Is your sourdough made with a real starter?
Yes, our sourdough is made with a natural sourdough starter, flour, water and salt, with no added yeast. It has a longer fermentation, which gives it a tangy flavour and a chewy crust. It also keeps longer than soft bread.
Is brown bread healthier than milky bread?
Brown bread contains whole-wheat atta, so it has more fibre than milky bread made with white flour. Milky bread is softer and slightly sweeter. Both are fine as part of a balanced diet.
How long does fresh bread last?
Soft breads like milky and brown bread are best within two days, and sourdough within three to four. Lahore humidity in the monsoon shortens that. Freeze sliced bread if you will not finish it.
Should I keep bread in the fridge?
No, the fridge makes bread go stale faster. Keep it in its bag at room temperature out of sunlight, or freeze it for longer. Our bread storage guide explains why.
Is your bread sliced?
Milky bread and brown bread are sold sliced. Sourdough loaves are sold whole so they stay fresh longer; ask at the branch if you want it sliced. Buns and rolls come in packs.
Do your breads contain preservatives?
Our breads are baked fresh for daily sale rather than a long shelf life. The product page lists main ingredients, including any bread improver. Ask the branch if you need full details.
What time is fresh bread available?
Fresh bread arrives at the branches before opening, so it is on the shelves from 7:00 AM in Gulberg and DHA Phase 5 and 7:30 AM in Johar Town. Popular loaves can sell out by evening. Order ahead to reserve yours.
